So yeah, I got the first debate topic here. I know how to start it.

Some states like Nevada are planning to privatize their prison systems, due to a surfeit of cost maintaining the ones they have. But you see, we actually know what happens when we privatize prisons. And it's not a pretty sight. You see, there is this case of malfeasance here where a judge got kickbacks to send kids to jail. Here's the link. So do you think the government should be allowed to do something like this, knowing all the things that could happen to kids (us)?

I think that's totally outrageous: we should just keep things the way they are!! You can add a poll too if you would like.

I like the idea. We should try to privatize everything possible. Individuals are always better at controlling their own funds than government bureaucrats.

Well, the government would manage contracts and law. The privatized courts, police, and prison system would merely enforce those laws. Profits encourage competition and improvement of services. I know for a fact that privatized police end up costing less in the end than what it would cost if you paid taxes into the system for government police. The New York Times is liberally biased here. I don't see what's evil about making a profit. It incentives law enforcement to become more observant, and the profit and loss system calculates what consumers like, want, need, etc. I find it efficient, economically sound, and moral.
